The
computer/programming on a Powerstroke engine senses the boost that the turbo
is producing with a MAP (Mass Air Pressure) sensor. It is set up so
when the turbocharger produces over 25psi of boost, the computer will set a
code, turn on the Service Engine Soon (SES) light, and try to cut fueling to the engine
to keep the boost at the factory level (25psi or lower).
This is not a problem with a stock engine, but
becomes evident when you add a chip since most chips increase the fuel
delivery to levels that can produce well over 25psi of boost. The
computer setting the SES light and de-fueling is annoying and hurts engine
performance.
The MAP Sensor Regulator kit installs between
the intake manifold and the MAP sensor. The regulator comes preset to
only let the MAP sensor "see" 23psi of boost and thereby prevents the
computer from de-fueling or setting any codes/lights.
Our kit installs with basic hand tools in
only minutes. It is also fully adjustable should your truck's setup
require it.
The kit includes -
- Professional grade pressure regulator with
gauge for easy re-adjustment. (pre-set at 23psi)
- High quality high-temp braided hose
- Complete installation instructions
- Mounting bracket for regulator
