O-Ringing the engine block

7.3L Powerstroke

Everyone building or running a high-output Powerstroke engine has had fears about their head gaskets at one time or another.  When running high horsepower products, the sudden rise in cylinder pressures generated by the products does a number on stock head gaskets.  To eliminate this, DPS installs stainless steel wire "o-rings" in the block.

By o-ringing a block, you virtually eliminate the possibility of "popping" the head gaskets due to high boost/high cylinder pressures.

O-rings are also generally required to make copper gaskets work to their full potential.

DPS uses stainless steel O-ring wire.  Stainless steel is preferred over copper wire that can flatten or dent to form a leak path.  We also cut the ends of the wire at a 45 degree angle when installing them in the block.  This eliminates any possibility of leaks as opposed to cutting the ends flat and butting them up.

When o-ringing a block, it is highly recommended that you re-assemble with copper head gaskets and head studs.

Pictures coming soon.
